Air-to-air with stumac

Mon Dec 22, 2008 6:33 pm

Stu, you are the MAN! I want to send out a big, BIG thanks to Stumac for the opportunity to shoot some gorgeous birds this weekend. Here is a small sample.

First a Stearman that's history is quite interesting. It was used to train the Tuskegee airmen.

hehe, I wondered if anyone was going to ask that. Nope, a different Mr Dickenson.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Who

Who Dat. Whose the guy in the front seat with the red hat and the smile? I think frown on the guy in back might be from looking into the sun or maybe because he just realized that he doesn't have a chute and his pilot does.
Is that location in the Santa Monica area?

Nice pictures Eric. I expected the T-6 to have more of a higher angle of attack (being we were flying around at 85 mph). I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures, especially of the "Mr. Dickenson". That was a fun day!

BTW - Chris asked me if I would fly his Stearman while he is in Japan. We will have to go do a photo flight with that also.

Nice work Stu. I can't help but laugh at Bill's comment about being well fed though, that is some good humor!!! I'm still jealous to see you in the front seat of the 6 though. I guess my day will come soon enough.

apology

Thu Dec 25, 2008 2:28 pm

VG photo tells me I owe Stumac an apology for the wording of my post. Perhaps he is right, so Stu I do apologize and I have changed that phrase. I was tried to be humorous, but Eric Van Gilder tells me it is rude to make a joke at someone else's expense. I notice that Stu hasn't commented. Maybe his ego/feelings were not at tender as Eric claims.

VG, Eric has also written on the topic that was locked about me being rude when I made a joke about photographers. I wrote that they were even crazier than pilots, when they buy all the latest expensive electro techno photo gadgets. I think it was pretty obvious that I was joking, but Eric doesn't see it that way, as he made clear in a PM. I don't think I owe an apology on this to either pilots or photographers and I have been both. And I think his objection likely goes deeper than my two attempted jokes. But as for as humor goes, I'll try not to include Eric or his work in my posts. There is at least one other Eric on WIX who does like humor.

You can't seem to leave well enough alone, Bill. I was not speaking for Stu, but was defending what I feel was a cheap shot at someone that I call a friend.

You are paraphrasing what I said in my PM. You have your own mind and I can see that trying to talk to you rationally is a lost cause. What I said, versus what you took away are completely different. I am not surprised, you seem to think that you were about to be canned by one of the moderators, who also had to defend himself. I never asked for an apology, nor do I expect one.

I am not going to get into what your opinion is on this "deeper objection". You are reading way more into this than you should and you can continue to grandstand and puff yourself up. I'm not going to stick around to hear it.

I commend apologizing for your cheap shot at Stu.

Have a nice day.
