Band of Brothers C-47s

Tue Dec 23, 2008 12:21 pm

I know there must have been threads on this but I can't find them, how many C-47s were used in the filming of the BoB series during the Day of Days episode depicting the Normandy air drop? Also, who supplied the planes?

I believe they used 4 C-47's and a couple of "billboard" flat C-47 cutouts in the background scenes. They also used a disassembled C-47 for the studio interiors and door jump.

I just finished his book. Those guys were and are still amazing to me. The truly amazing part is there were thousands of guys just like him on both fronts.

I know it doesn't always look like it but I see the same spark in some of our troops today. Some great, some not so great, some feed off chicken$h1t and some are brilliant. It is there.

I still will take as much time and any vet wants to spend talking to me. If I am late, well then I am late. Usually when I tell the powers that be why I am late, no one seems to mind.

Bless them all.

N47FK - Dakota Club
G-DAKK - South Coast Airways
G-AMRA - Air Atlantique
The Air Atlantique was the one I flew in with Babe Heffron from Bournemouth to Cherbourg .

I hope this helps?
