This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I may not be Eric yet, but I'm drinkin' milk. Seeing those awesome Skyraider photos made me want to share pix of my pride and joy - an RV-8. Although a Skyraider isn't in the budget now, never say never. And Eric, a share of the RV is available for a share in the AD.

I like the checkered nose!
Did you build it? That's my dream...to build one myself. Gotta get a bigger garage...

I bought it already flying. I helped build 5 different Glasairs after college and knew enough to buy and enjoy now - maybe build someday when I have sufficient free time. The builder was a fan of Bud Anderson, Yeager, etc, hence the checkers. I've never quite warmed up to them with the rest of the paint scheme, however I don't dislike it enough to undertake a repaint of the cowl.

Here's a shot of our RV-4 as it looked about a year ago. Since then we've hung the engine and are working to complete the electrics. Hope to have it flying by next summer. Can't wait!!!

At least it doesn't have a "Training Wheel" on it!

Nice ride, Ken. I've been thinking about an RV-8 for some time.

Ken,
That's very nice looking RV. They are a great little airplane.
As for the "never say never" comment, I couldn't agree more. It never hurts to have a big goal. I didn't fly a single hour for the first 6 years after I stopped flying for the Army. I couldn't afford to rent a 152 during that time, but I kept reminding myself of the long term goal. It all worked out.
In the meantime, it wouldn't be too hard to scale down the the patterns I made when I built the rockets for the Spad. It's the easiest step toward the "AD-RV8".

I think it must be the construction, aluminium and rivets, that gives the RV-8 a head start appeal to the Warbird fraternity.
Impressively slippery.

I'm building an RV-8 with about every option you can think of. I am building a trophy winner for Oshkosh.. I plan on painting it like a spad Based at NAS LEMOORE where I was stationed.. It is really going to be nice when I get it done. I deleted about 30 % of the kit when I ordered it. and Bought aftermarket stuff. Do you fly down there with Khuna?

Those planes are wonderful! Can't wait to see the RV with paint on it. And that pitts is awesome. Good use of those floatie things I have in my swimming pool for the kids to play with for padding on the wings. Very cool. I like the garage floor too!
