Imagine getting into a B17 that cold and then flying a mission up where its even colder??
Oh yeah, and do it when people are trying very hard to kill you.

Deenethorpe, winter 44-45.
The ground crews mess hall was nearly half a mile behind the photographer.... and almost 2 miles from the furthest dispersal.
