Warbirds In Snow (Modern Color?)

Fri Dec 26, 2008 11:32 am

Anyone got any pictures of planes parked in the snow? I like to use them as desktop backgrounds this time of year. Let's see what people have...

Warbird related?

This is the Protestant Base Chapel, still at its original location on what was the Sioux City Army Air Field in WWII.

We shot this picture last February of Coffeyville Auxiliary #3, later renamed Independence #3, north of Edna, Kansas. Many a basic student worked the pattern in this pasture. Every morning a portable tower, mounted on a truck, and a crash truck drove out here to watch the cadets master their trade in the BT-13s and 14s.

Well ...

I put this up in the Hot Stuff thread, but oh my yes, we do get to see warbirds in the snow, even more than we'd really like.

That was during the filming of the Nova episode, "The Last Flight of Bomber 31." It was cold that day, but not as cold as this:

Tomorrow, it's supposed to be 60 and thunderstorms. Weird weather we're having nowadays.
