Interesting Story about a Constellation at Greenwood Lake Airport, West Milford, NJ...

Also a bit about it on the Constellation Survivors website...

I saw it back in 2004 but didnt get inside. Impressive sight at a really small back country (for NJ) airport. Looks like they only used a little more then half the runway on landing.

Got any pictures?

In 2000, the State of New Jersey purchased the airport...and in the same deal, got the plane.

I hope not. There is a reference on the airport web site that they re-skinned some areas recently and re-painted the plane. Any Jersey-ites out there that can take a look?

I found this flicker link (2005) that has some pictures. The cabin looks suprisingly good...

Sorry, that was an off the cuff response about NJ politics more than the Connie... Id expect them to declare it a superfund site and smelt it on site...

After thinking about it... NJ may not be such a terrible place for it. The Cape May Air Museum has a restored TBM that is registered as a state historical site. Perhaps the Cape may Museum or the NJ Aviation Hall of Fame in Teterboro could give it a home eventually... Hmmm Not to mention Tom Duffy's collection down at Millville...

I here you. I grew up in Jersey and I'm well aware of the politics (I still have a soft spot for my home state though)...

Constellations are my one of my favorite Civilian/military birds and I hope this one is receiving decent care. Hard to tell from the airport web site. Not wild about the stairs being built into it but at least it survives...
