Hi all,
A fellow model builder brought some of his father's WWII snapshots to tonight's club meeting. He was wondering if anyone could identify what type of aircraft the engines in this pic may have come from. I believe the pciture was taken in Europe, probably late in the war. Obviously, that's a C-47 in the background, but that doesn't necessarily mean the engines also came from a Gooney, or even an American aircraft. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve

This is dredging up old memories from A&P school. If I recall some Wright engines used crankcase breathing through the crankshaft and out through the prop hub. If a Wright engine had a Hamilton Standard propeller there was a small cap over the breather hole in the propeller dome. So it is possible these are Wright R-1820 or 2600 engines with Ham Standard props.
