This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Are there any Luftwaffe/Greek/Japanese or Turkish F-4 Phantom people on this forum?
Either current or former is ok.
I am interested in hearing about F-4E Operations in your home countries.
Im most interested in German F4 Operations.
Any stories of F-4 Phantom flying/experiences or information is welcomed.
A project is under way to capture some frontline F-4 memories before the F-4 finally disappears off the radar scope for good.

This is a cool project,. I'd love to hear as well. The F-4 is just like an old muscle car.

Please add me to the list, cut my eyeteeth on the F-4J AWG-10, 1527 configuration back in 76 to 80 on the Indy CV-62. Let me think, VF-102 Diamondbacks and VF-33 Screaming Monkeys.
"Better a sister in a whorehouse then a brother in a Tomcat" Quote off a cigarette lighter bought in VF-101 hangar 1976 (Talk about before PC was the mode of operation)

I met a former Phantom driver a few months ago as a fellow cast member doing a Pirates of Penzance production. We spent some time in the green room chatting about his time in service. Tour in Nam, bit of a tour at Top Gun. Topped out a whisker under a 100k feet on one exercise..memorable event. Lots of hyjinks and foolery on the flight line and in the bars of SE Asia! Pissing off the CO, dodging the MP's. Somehow I got the impression that Marine Phantom pilots are BAD BOYS!

I know one who blew over a sailboat at Kanohe Bay on takeoff!
He also hit the brakes a little hard on rollout and busted both mains off of the wheels. ( Navy/Marine F-4s didn't have antiskid )
