Superbowl Flyover

Sun Feb 06, 2005 4:52 pm

Tonight at 6:15ish as the National Anthem begins for the Super bowl, Warbird Adventures SNJs (Texan 2 and Texan 3) will fly over in formation with the B-25 "Panchito" for the opening ceremony. They will be followed by F-22s as the Anthem ends. Hopefully, they will show it on TV for all to see.

If anyone can record this for me digitally (if it does get aired), I would appreciate it.

I'll get it for you on TiVo and I can digitize it.

At 6:15pm EST it's pretty much dark already. Hope it works out. You might get to hear them go buy.

Mike

Hello Chuck,

"Panchito" used to be based at the strip I'm located on. A crop duster friend owned it and used it to spray the local orange groves for many years. Must have been quite a site and fun too! Said he came back with green propeller tips more than once!

Pretty short...only a couple seconds...but I've got it. Let me know if you want it (sts).

Nice one. I saw it.

First time there's something interesting in the Super Bowl!

Oh, about 3-4 years ago there was an add which had a Spitfire poster on a wall!

Chuck,

Where those four F-22's in formation or a pair of F-22's with a pair of FA-18's on the far side? The noses of the far planes looked like Hornets to me, but I was probably seeing things.

Thanks,

Jeff

Two F-22's and two Hornets. Pretty cool to see Panchito and the Texans too!

That's correct, 2 F-22's and 2 F-18's were in trail for the National Anthem. There were 4 F-18's total onsite just in case there was a mechanical issue with the F-22's. That goes to show you that they still dont trust the F-22's yet.
Randy, I would like to get the whole intro to the National Anthem as well where Michael Douglas is announcing the 60th anniversary of the end of WW2. Let me know if thats possible.
I am glad they showed the warbird formation at least for a few seconds. Funny to see them with their landing lights on but it was starting to get very dark. They landed near-by and made it down safely. I did think that it was highly inappropriate to have Michael Douglas announce the tribute to veterans, though.

Why was it innapropriate?

I thought it was OK.

I was wondering the same thing.

Come on!

That's low Rob.

He can disagree with whomever he wants and still be grateful for the Vets.!!

I think Douglas is probably liberal, being a typical actor, and generally veterans are conservative.

So?

Why does everything has to be brought back to politics?
