The story of B-17F "Black Jack" 41-24521 one of the 5th Air Force's most famous bombers. Discovered in 1986 by Rodney Pearce, the B-17 is one of the world's best preserved underwater aircraft wrecks. Written and produced by Steve Birdsall author of the acclaimed Flying Buccaneers and many aviation books.

Can anyone say "FIELD TRIP"!!! 
Hopefully the locals are keeping the tourists from stripping more from her as she looks rather "intact". But it is just a matter of time till she is a few lumps of concretion on the seabed.

The old B-17F seems indestructible . . . since Rod Pearce found her we've had volcanic eruptions on New Britain and a tsunami, but she's still there, a monument to Ken MCullar, Harry Staley, Ralph De Loach and their crews. It's kind of inspiring.
