RAF Cosford Museum Photos (01/02/05)

Mon Feb 07, 2005 7:08 am

Had a day out at the RAF Cosford Museum last week, and it was a very nice and chilled out day. Plenty of interesting stuff to see and lots of changes since my last visit a few years back.

Having a good close up look at the outdoor stuff was nice, and so was the look inside the Vulcan B1 cockpit.

Nice to get a good look at the Lincoln and the German and Japanese stuff, oh and the art gallery is most impressive and worth a look around. There are TV's around the museum showing various DVDs and the British Airways one is particularly nice.

Also got to see some Jet Provost's doing short taxi runs, these were on the main airfield, they are used for training ground support staff etc.

Andrew, whilst I'm sure that the good people of WIX will enjoy your Cosford photos, over the past week you've been told on two other forums that it's not a "Drone", it's a rare (if not unique) Holzbrau-Kissing Enzian surface to air missile and it's a Bristol 188 not a BAC 188. I'm surprised that you've not considered correcting your captions before posting this set again.

I'd suggest a look at http://www.rafmuseum.com/cosford/collections/index.cfm for information about the rather excellent collection of 'planes and missiles at Cosford.

Yeah sorry about not correcting the mistakes, I genuinely was going to do so before posting these photos but just forgot all about it.
