F4U N6604C - ID ?

Tue Feb 08, 2005 1:30 pm

Hi all

despite efforts through Google, I couldn't find any info on F4U N6604C - it was active under this registration in the early 60's -
can anyone tag a C/N (BuAer #) to this registration, please ?

Thanks

This would be Bob Axtell's Bu92050 N194G when owned by either Aero Enterprises or Bob Mitchem, I think! Nice to see photos of it in civilian clothing. Great stuff Martin!

how come it doesn't surprise me that T J again made it !

Many thanks - greatly appreciated.

Whenever you're in Switzerland, drinks are on me.

Amazing :) All these years of looking and I've never seen photos of that plane as it appeared with Aero Enterprises. It didn't remain in those colors long once Mitchem got a hold of it. That's a notably sexy scheme for a Corsair during that period in time.

Excellent find Swiss! Where did you come across those photos btw?

*sigh*

now I will have to fend off an army of others in this auction ? - actually I am on this one primarly for the P-51 shots.

Promise: when I get them I will do high-rez scans and post them here.
