POF Show May

So for the people who have been or are affiliated, a few questions.

I am planning to go this year, and have never been to the museum. Do I need to plan a visit day outside of the airshow? Will I be able to see and photograph everything during the show, or do I need an extra day of vist?

Also, can I get all the Yank's planes at the same time, or do I need to plan an extra day for that?

Lastly, who comes to the show (airplane wise?) Do the CAF squadrons in or near LA make the trip, or should I try to arrange visits to those planes? What about AAF? Is Aluminum Mistress still in restoration and not flying?

Last, what are the do not miss side trips, besides all the great info provided on Mike H.'s aerial visual site?

See your PMs...... Also generally Yanks Museum is closed during the airshow. So plan another day for that........

The only "side trip" I'd suggest NOT MISSING would be the WIXer dinner on Friday night. (Place to be determined.)

Thanks tex-fan but I have that one from Mike's site. It is getting put to the test by me for the first time planning this adventure to LA-LA land!

I am more interested in the airplane that is "not" on display, "but if you..."! The guy doing a restoration, or private collection but not really advertised, but not to be missed kinda stuff.

Mudge, are you asking me on a date? Would love to be bought dinner on Friday night, just tell me when and where!........Just funnin' on ya....but would be cool to meet up with anyone in the area for the show who just may tap dance around this sometimes minefield called WIX.

Dave,

Yes, plan an extra day for the POF museum, a friday works well, and you can catch some of the planes on arrival later in the day.

While March isn't your thing, they do have some very nice WWII stuff on display, inside and out.

Hooters Mudge Hooters!!!!!!!!!!!! Ryan and Scott had to chaffeuer us last year because our ride decided he needed the sleep. The head WIXers saved our B**ts. Plan to be there on a Thursday. Even though it's not planes, the NHRA museum at the Pomona Fairgrounds is worth a look if you're a gearhead. It's free too!

OK...But, in this freakin' PC world, "servers" means either male or female as does "flight attendants". I was just attempting to limit the selections of our "whippersnappers" to those of the female gland.
I know that's a great "straight" line for some of youse troops. What say you just sublimate your urge to take this subject to the limits of the envelope.

Well, been away at work, but, guess that Mudge has decided that we are Hooterin' for Friday dinner....

I have got a pretty good schedule set up for the 7 days I will be in LaLa Land. My question was meant to supplement what Mike H. set up in his website or highlight an opportunity that is only offered by someone involved in or participating in a restoration. I think my schedule, as aggressive as it is, still has a few hours in it every day to absorb airplanes.

Lots of things on Mike's website for LA seem like they will be invite or special case only. Not sure if that is the case, but.....Aluminum Mistress is an example....

My trip is a complete solo mission. I am all by myself, moving light and fast, hoping to see and photograph everything I can in the daylight that is available(and absorb all the alcohol I can and accomplish the next days mission). My goal is to get home and say, "dang, I missed this and that shot and have to go back", rather than, "dang, I did not know that I was supposed to go here or there!"

So for all you LaLa Land experts.....
