Not off hand but there a was Lt Russell Brown who was a late war pilot
in the 354th FG and I've alway wondered if they were one and the same.

November 8, 1950, an F-80 flown by 1st Lt. Russell Brown shot down a MiG-15 in history's first all-jet dogfight.

And 6 years later, he still a Lt.?

If Lt. Brown had gone into the Reserves after WWII and been called up for Korea wouldn't he pick up the rank he had when he went inactive? That may explain why he was a 1st Lieutenant (providing the two men are the same, of course).

That's very typical in a lot of cases. My good friend Ernie Wakehouse who
was one of the P-51 pilot honorees at Mustangs and Legends got his wings in 1944 and was a 1Lt when the war ended. He flew his combat tour in Korea in 1951 has a 1Lt and then continued to fly in the guard until 1955 and got out has a ...you guessed it 1Lt
Another pilot friend made Capt in 1943 in New Guinea and got his gold oak leaves in 1954 :!:
