This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

What all aircraft is currently in the Russian inventory?

Fascinating footage. I didn't realize the Russkies still had any airworthy Blackjacks (at least I think that's what the B-1 looking thing is called.)
I remember back in the 90s when the NMUSAF was planning the new Cold War gallery there was talk of the museum getting a Bear. At the time it sounded like there was a pretty good chance it would happen, but since then things have cooled off a bit with the Russians, and I haven't heard anything in years. I assume the idea has been shelved for now.

I read the other day on cnn.com that it was a Tu-95 and it was still in international airspace. They sent some CF-18's up to escort/ intercept.

I knew a long time pilot who died recently who told me that once when he was at Edwards or Groom Lake (not sure which) he saw an open hangar door with a Tupolev Bear inside. He was told that the aircraft was stolen or defected from Eastern Europe in a black program. This guy was a real aviation expert and would have known the difference between US and USSR types.

Nathan,
There is a poster named Motomixer over on FlightLevel350 that has great high quality videos from Russian airshows. Many obscure types. Check his vids out here:
