As per the civil registration file and a bit of other information, it was donated to the USAF for display at Lackland in October 1980 by the CAF. According to the CAF Dispatch, Nov/Dec 1980 issue, it was deemed as unsuitable for restoration to airworthy condition and "major components were not suitable for spares." All usable instrument and controls had already been removed by the CAF and it had been on static display at Harlingen for many years. It was trucked to San Antonio by the USAF.

It had been surplused by the USAF in 1959 and obtained by the CAF in June 1967.

The CAF ought to take it back. Renigging on donations seems to be acceptable. Whoever in the CAF in 1969 didn't have the authority to sign a donation. I'll volunteer to go get it!

I remember looking it over in the mid 70s and it had lots of corrosion at that time but it hadn't been stripped yet
