I'm wanting to add this little guy to my 1/72 P-40 model collection and if I need to i'm pretty sure I can make the decals but i'd like more reference photos if anybody has any leads. Thanks much!

Hey Al,
You can definitely find decals online for the 79th and 57th FG P-40's.
I have a bunch of pictures I found online by just searching 79th fighter group on Yahoo or Google Images. PM me with your email and I can send them to you.
Regards,
Mark

Those are perfect!
#13 with the skull under the cockpit and scorpion on the nose is definately the one i'm doing. Any idea if those images are on both sides? I'm not one to do dioramas but taxiing with the crewman on the wing would be pretty cool.

As far as I know it was on both sides.

The scorpion was on both sides of the nose facing the front on both sides. As for the skull I don't know but being a personal marking I would guess left only.
The color photo also shows art on the rudder.
I have the Squadron walkaround on the P-40 and it has a close up of the cockpit area with the pilots name of Lt. R.J. Overcash on it.
Also in Osprey MTO P-40 aces book.
Hope this helps some .
Rick
