PASM PBM Mariner Interior Photos (56k beware)

Fri May 01, 2009 11:10 pm

Hello everyone,

I was pretty impressed with the interior photos of the PBM Mariner that Andrew Boehly at the Pima Air & Space Museum took and posted on the 1941 HAG Message Board -- so I asked his permission to download them and repost them here (from my web server) -- and he said yes!

So, thanks to Andrew, here are the photos:

I never really thought about it before- all that aircraft, only TWO engines!

Then I found the webpage above when looking for pics...

I have examples of the radio tables below which came from a surplus place in Baltimore. The large one was for the navigator, the smaller one just a radio rack. Both have the original manufacturer tags on them- from the Luscombe Aircraft Corporation. Thanks for posting them- this is the first time I've seen them in an aircraft.

Holy crap! I'm gonna wear out the right-click button on my mouse!

Now if Minicraft would just release the PBM kit they've been publicizing for the past few years.

I'm glad to see the coating has been removed from the windows, and I'm amazed at how complete the interior is (and how good the condition is.) Was the aircraft flown to the museum? I remember seeing pics of her in bare metal with a crudely spay-painted N-number.

it was flown to Tucson from Thermal CA, but it was a very long time ago. It has been there as long as I remember, and that goes back into the late 70s

Wow! Looks very complete. Though they need to take the sticker off the brand new anchor, beat it on some rocks, let it get a bit rusty, then paint it so it looks authentic!
