Pima P-47?

Mon Feb 21, 2005 8:53 pm

I am heading toward Arizona in the next few weeks, so I have been doing some reseach. The Pima site says they have:

Republic P-47D Thunderbolt s/n 42-8130 in Storage

I can find no record of this plane other than it is a PNG bird. So is it at Pima and if so where did it come from? Of has 42-8310 moved from Downunder?

One of the P-47s that Rob Greinert owns in Australia is 42-8310. That's the same numbers as 42-8130!? Just a coincidence or a typo?

We got the plane from Rob several years ago. The documentation he provided shows the serial as 42-8130 and the name "Frankie."

Lately, the Pima Air & Space Museum has been adding some great planes to an already great collection. I'm looking forward to going back out there someday and visiting this fine museum again!
