Military Aviation Museum's airshow this weekend in Virgina Beach.
A real beautiful place with a great and growing collection.
A bit of rain while there on Saturday. Some pics below.

With such a great collection there, all you need to do is push the stuff outside, and there is your airshow. I really love this museum.

Nice shooting Bill. I saw shots of a Wildcat there that looked like Lex Dupont’s old machine, do you know which Cat it is?

It is the former Dupont machine. Yagen recently acquired it and is going to restore it to all its glory.

This P-40 is one that I recovered out of Russia back in the early 90s.She sure is beautiful now.One hell of a collection.

anyone else notice the streamers from the corsair wingtips in that youtube video? at about 5:04 into the video. Looks like a neat airshow! I wish all the cool airshows weren't so freaking far away from here.

Great pics Bill.

Is that Lex Dupont's Wildcat? [Edit: I didnt see the above post]

Nice to hear it will be restored... but as I said I just love that battle worn look.

I always like seeing it at Reading, I just love that weathered look. 8) Looks like she has been busy patroling for Zero and Vals.

It was great to see you Bill! Despite the weather issues (only PT and P-51 flew Sunday morning before rains), this was a good inaugural event! Just think, by this time next year, Jerry may have the JU-52, FW-190, ME-109, P-39, and Storch there!

Bill, any idea why no Mig-3 or YAK on the premises? I forgot to ask!

Also, there were three major shows within 2 states of MAM, so maybe some other visiting aircraft will join next year. Bob Hill (PBY pilot) is friends with Neal Melton, so maybe he can get the Melton Flying Circus there to provide top-cover and go after that Norville Family and their anti-aircraft battery (88mm they were firing off)!

Good to meet Gary and clan, plus always good to spend time with Ray Scott, Bob and Bob, Jerry, and Jon Fuentes!

Anyway, it was a great time. Here's some images:

Great shots guys!
Thanks for posting them.
How were the re-enactors displays that attended?
I know some decided to go there instead of Reading this year.

I'll post some images in the next couple of days. It's not a subject that I'm really up on, so I don't want to comment too much. Suffice it to say, the people that were there did a great job, and I expect it to grow vastly in the next 1-2 years.

Size-wise, it's nowhere near where Willow Run's battle scene or Reading's entire encampment is, but again, keep in mind, there's a whole lot to be added at MAM (including German hangar, control tower, etc).

Fantastic pics, all..looks like a great show! I visited the Fighter Factory last summer..they hosted a barbecue in one hangar in conjunction with the IPMS National Convention. Beautiful place. Just seeing all those bird in the hangar was wonderful..I would love to see them all flying!
