Any info on AIRIC?

Thu Feb 24, 2005 9:26 am

I posted on the Fly past Board, about hearing on the 1941 HAG board that AIRIC was involved in a crash yesterday. I was wondering if anyone had any details.

The message was that AIRIC survived but 2 other died.

Was Ollie involved?

This is alarming. I looked up his phone number, called and left a message. If I hear anything I'll post.

I think there was some confusion at HAG... Eric (another Eric, don't know last name) who flies with Warbird Adventures (friends of HAG too) was involved in a crash in Florida in a Bonanza. The pilot and co-pilot were killed, but he and a passenger survived. Sounds like some confusion at HAG may have created a coincidence that hit a little close to home...

However, anything is possible... lets hope all is ok.

The photographer involved in the crash was Eric Dumigan. It's buried in the article on the link provided by TimApNy.

According to Airic's website, that's his name.

Eric--

Phew! even better to hear from you than usual...Went frantically Googling after recent air accidents and found what must be the one actually spoken of at HAG. Beech Bonanza N634Q, went in at Flying Baron Estates airfield at Leesburg FL on Monday Feb 14. Pilot and one passenger died, two other passengers survived (one of them an Eric Frazier). Story is here...

What's up with this guys? Crashes are very rare when you consider the number of crashes to the number of planes flying.

I would be more concerned if someone crashed their car on the way to work.

We are of course concerned when there are any accidents, regardless of if they are rare or not. The fact that this is an aviation forum means that aviation accidents tend to come to the forefront. The fact that initial reports indicated a WIXer was involved means it does concern us. I am estatic that AIRIC, who is one of the best photographers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and an all around good guy, is fine and that it was an error in the initial report of his involvment.
