'Lucky Strike' - 380th BG...my father in law, S/L Bill Ross, flew one mission in this one from Fenton as part of his conversion to the B-24 in 1944.
With his crew flew ten missions with the 380th and then went back to their RAAF Liberator sqn.
He did the actual initial flight training on war weary B-24s from the 42nd BG at newly captured Nadzab.

Empty Saddle was on P40N-5, 42-105513. It had "Keystone Katie" on the opposite cowl. Flown by Mjr. Arlon Stanton
Owned and under restoration by Ian Whitney here in Australia.

I am always wonder is that art made on base of real models or imagination? Just to get more time this will be nice subject for the aircraft profile book- chick on metal!!!
