WWII Marine Fighter Pilot Drinking Songs

A while back someone started a thread about the songs sung by the pilots of Marine fighter squadrons in the Pacific in WWII.
They were looking for copies of some of these great ditties. We'll this past week I've been going through a couple of the last boxes I
had in storage after our house fire. Well guess what I found...that's right the songbook of VMF-122.
Every song they ever though up (or drunk up) are here. Some one these musical greats are ''The Wiffenpoof Song'', ''Drunk Last Night'',
''I Want A Girl'', ''After Rabaul Is Over'', ''Virgin Sturgeon'', ''Ring Dang Doo'', ''Drunken Sailor'' and ''Frigg'in In The Rigg'in''.
Who ever was looking for these please ID yourself.

Lt Col Tom Mooney USMC ret (WGFP) "Worlds Greatest Fighter Pilot" by his own admission, been in four wars, three of which he started himself use to sing to us down in Mexico after a few drinks. He and Lt Col Danny Johnson and Major Hal Grey, both ret USMC were in the same F4U Squadron in WW II and they all flew in Catch 22. Most were Oscar Brand songs, those were the days.

I'll look at the songs tonight. What I'll do is start by sending it to
Django and he can them pass it on to the next person who want to see it.
Just so it eventually lands back at homebase

I have an EP (that's four songs on a 45... what's a 45? oh never mind) and a couple of the songs were "I Wanted Wings (till I got the GD things)" and "Miss VD of Guam" - gotta transcribe those someday.

Hey, even Bing Crosby got a little blue with his 7th Air Force song ("you can bet your a$$").

My friend Bill Getz put together a book of flying songs from WWI through Vietnam. Actually, he did two but he said I wasn't old enough for the second one! It has the dirty lyrics in it!

Anyway he gave me a copy. It has over 800 songs in it!

It's called "The Wild Blue Yonder: Songs of the Air Force"
