I've had the bug to ride in a P-38, a P-51 or a Spitfire for a while now. I can't afford the P-38 or the "Spit" ($2,000+) and I'm told I'm too heavy for the "Spit" anyway (200lb. max.). I found a P-51 that I can afford ($500 for an hour) at "The Parachute Center" in Acampo, CA. By the time we fly out, rent a car, and a motel, the cost will be up around $1,000.
Any of you folks know of a P-51 ride here on the East coast that is a comparable price?

And well worth it. Take your log book and a cheap camera and Lee will give your a ride to remember :0)
I did on my 40th Bday and have several pictures on my office wall here with Lee's kind words.
Cheers,

The P-51 ride in Acoma is $500 an hour for a dual control. Believe me. I have it in writing from the owner.

How 'bout a T-6 ride? I saw a Stearman fly today, and would love to fly in that too.

Yeah , but that is only 0.25 K for 5 minutes. Enuf for me. I think I am going to be a P-51 Mustang pilot for 5 minutes one day !

Sounds to me like you need a vacation that just happens to take place near Acampo. Then your little side trip will only cost $500 extra.

It is all in how you approach it.

At least that's how I would explain it to MY wife!

Don't need to 'splain it to Mrs. Mudge. She's the one who's encouraging me to do it. After all, what good is it for her to have a good paying job if she doesn't pay for my toys?

sounds to me that you and the wife should make some vacation plans and come on out for the Chino Airshow in May and make a reservation with John Hinton and take the P-51 Mustang flight. The money will go to a great cause, and you will enjoy yourself, plus catch a great airshow this year, where else are you going to see 5-6 P-47 Thunderbolts in the air at one time. check them out

Mr. OD...Be careful with your offers, I may take you up on it...
I'd like to add to my B-17, T-6, and C-47 warbird flights. And I rather fancy an O-1...but their price seems a bit steep in the US.
