Kemble Airshow 2009 (Sunday) - Pics

Tue Jun 23, 2009 11:57 am

After not attending for a couple of years I ventured back to Kemble for the second day of the airshow. A well thought out show with an excellent variety of acts.

Shame about the cloud though.

P-5853 was restored by an ex coworker of mine Bob Eatwell. Bob was here @ EDCC as an instructor for about a year and went back 'ome last year-fun guy and I loved talking with him.

Looks like a good flying display and very interesting stuff that will never get to this side of the Atlantic :(

<<Looks like a good flying display and very interesting stuff that will never get to this side of the Atlantic>>

We should look into draining it, or at least building a nice bridge! Oh, wait, according to Al Gore, the Atlantic will be dry in 10 years, right? :)

Now, to the aviation flame war commencement ceremony, I have two thoughts to put forward;

1 - I'm not a fan of Griffon-powered Spitfires with the "razorback" (non-bubble canopy, not sure what term you across the pond use), I like the bubble-top like Jim Beasley's.

2 - I like the side-by-side two seat Hunter slightly better than the single-seater. I think I'm in the minority on that one. The single-seater is sweet too, no doubt!

Again great shots and show! Thanks for sharing them!

Great shots, you guys on that side of the pond seem to have a more diverse showing of aircraft at air shows than we do here in the States. Thanks for sharing them.

Any news on if Vulcan XH558 is going to do any shows this year?

Yeah, I love airshow pics from "over there", as the planes are totally different to what we see over here. Thanks for sharing!

Nice Pics!

Who owns the Sea Vixen? Is that the Red Bull example after a re-spray?

Red Bull didn't own the Sea Vixen, they only sponsored it for a few seasons. Part of the deal was a respray back into RN colours when the agreement ended IIRC.

CrewDawg, the Vulcan was at Kemble. Perhaps Nick had too many pics already.
