...Someone in NZ has an air force.... 58/101- pretty good preservation. Where are the majority located?

Wed Mar 02, 2005 11:48 pm

Mainly in NZ with about 1/4 in OZ and 1 in the U.S (N101NZ) 8)

We'd all have one

hairy..WOW..60%..imagine if that many P-51, Spitty's, Tony's etc. made it? Heck..we'd all have at least one!

ps
hairy, is the engineer finished with the drafts for "our" Griffon Bronco's
yet??

Wow!

That's terrific. Reminds me of what I read in our local paper in 1998 when the CWH Corsair was sold...comparing rarity between U-birds and the Lancaster, the reporter blithely wrote that "2,000 Corsairs" were still flying. (I emailed the paper to inform them that were that the case I would own a Corsair myself!) I think someone on the phone at CWH likely told the reporter "two dozen" and the scribe thought he'd heard "two thousand". Otherwise it's just too goofball to end up in print. (Certainly do wish it were true, though. Let's see, which Corsair would be mine? I think I'll take that white clipped-wing F2G that won the last Cleveland race in '49...)

Certainly is good to hear so many of the Kiwi Harvards survive.

I hate to slice the odds here, but the RNZAF operated 202 Harvards - not 101.
