F4U corsair hardpoint question

Wed Aug 12, 2009 6:48 pm

Okay, I need you experts on the corsair to help me out. Need to find out what model did they start putting hardpoints for fuel tanks on center section, there are 3 points, one center and the others next to it. did the early birdcage models have them? maybe another way to look at it, is, what model DIDN'T have the 3 hard points for fuel tanks.

I believe the -1D was the first version with 3 hardpoints. The -1A could carry a single bomb or belly tank.
Over to the experts.
