Mon Aug 31, 2009 10:09 am

Anyone going to see the Collings foundation as they make a stop in Williamsport pa starting tomorrow? I'm planning on going. Would like to know what time they will fly in so I can watch! :D

Bring your camera this time for some pics of the Collins ships and the Intruder.

Nathan,

Hey neighbor, I hope to be there sometime this week? I heard they will be on the ground for tours etc, and then do the flying after 5pm...for people getting off work I would expect.

Can't wait. I haven't seen them since they were here a few years ago! I will get picts of the new paint jobs. We also have the various blimps fly though Williamsport going to and from various events and I remember driving to work and seeing the blimp flying along and that was cool, until I saw 909 taking off out of Montoursville and that was awesome!

I have my blinds open here at work and will hopefully be able to see them arrive...geesh, I might have to take a late (picnic) lunch down by the airport!

Colling's birds did arrive yesterday. I stopped at the airport to get a peak after work. They look great. I did not get to see the P-51 though. I will go back today.

They are charging $12 for adults and $6 for children to wander around and tour the planes static. They are charging $425 for bomber flights and $2200 for 1/2 hr P-51 flights and $3200 for 1 hr flights. The planes will be static until about 5pm when the flights begin.
I am telling everyone I can to stop and see these historic aircraft.

The planes are parked on the far western edge of the airport, a fair distance from the Intruder. You can see the intruder across the airfield from them.

I will be returning after work today.

As a side note. Believe it or not, the Collings birds were not the most spectacular flying related thing I saw yesterday. I work in Williamsport and jumped onto the small "beltway" we have here, Rt I-180, to make the 4 mile trek to the airport which is actually in the boro of Montoursville. I headed eastbound and got off the Montoursville exit. Montoursville is just east of the Loyalsock creek and as I approached the Loyalsock creek bridge, a Bald Eagle lept out of a tree on the right side of the road right in front of me, turned towards my car and "wind surfed" my windshield. OMG it was beautiful and so close I ducked, thinking it might crash into the windshield ! Wow! I saw it in my rearview mirror lifting into the air behind me...Spectacular! We do have a nesting pair of bald Eagles in the area and this was not the first time I have seen them, but, never this close!!!

Anyway, I can't wait to get back to the airport after work today!
