Douglas A2D Skyshark survivor.

Whilst trolling the interweb on a dull and rainy day, I came across an aircraft I had never heard of (again!!!) It is the turboprop powered Douglas A2D Skyshark, of which only 12 were built, and only one survives. It has supposedly been restored and is at Idaho Falls airport, but although I could find pictures of it before restoration, I could find none of it as it as today. Can anyone post any? It is one fugly bird by the way, but interesting none the less.

Ooooh, that's John Muszala's bird over in Idaho.

That thing was a ramp queen at Chino for YEARS. I understand he's made some progress on it, but if memory serves is missing a lot of the 'internal' stuff for the T-40 and prop systems.

Yes, the A2D Skyshark was an interesting aircraft...and a big one at that. I recall seeing them parked at the Douglas El Segundo flight test facility which at that time was adjacent to Sepulvada blvd at LAX. IIRC, the aircraft's demise were problems with the gearbox for the T-40 which apparently couldn't be fixed.

I worked on it some while I worked for John.
He has collected some bits and pieces to make it look good.
It is a very strong and heavy structure.
No engines back when I was at Chino.
