I figure I will probably never really be able to afford any kind of warbird. But I could afford to buy and rebuild a WW2 era Jeep in a few years and I know there is lots of support for them. What I would do is restore it in a checkerboard or other high visibility "Follow Me" style sheme. Anybody got any pics of one or know a site where I could find some?

And please note, the squares were done free hand and not laid out with a laser, so if you do it, leave 'em ragged and free form, just like it would have been done by two guys assigned a 'detail' or punishment during the war.

Start saving your PENNIES!!!!! When it comes to restoring a MV, WW2 jeeps dont come cheap. A decent runner that is not prestine will bring 10K.

If you dont care how orig it is and just want a good Looker............find a wore out one that has a complete drive line, concentrate on the engine and drive line as you can buy reproduction tubs and a frame if needed. But by then, your probably back up to that 10K figure.

Sometimes I wish I knew better when all the Bomb Group restraunts were closing, some of them had 3 or 4 jeeps outfront. Granted not all were military but early CJ's, there were some good starter projects to be had.

In this economy? I don't think so. Maybe $5K. I know of one that can't sell for $7K...

Probably not worth 7 then...........if the economy has hit, I am still waiting for it to hit the MV hobbie..............I have yet to see prices of parts or vehicles drop because of it. People are still paying CRAZY prices for absolute junk at the DRMO yards.

Do they only take it to church on sunday????? Go talk to them!!!!! You are in New England, we got alot of collectors. I'll guarentee that your not the only one watching those ladies in that jeep!!!!

I've been looking for a while now, and Jeff is dead on. Really nice, accurate, MBs or GPWs bring mid five-figures and haven't seemed to move down at all. The one owner I tried to work with on a rough project wasn't at all interested in moving his price. I'm still patiently looking.

For the guys that are interested on what they want to get into. Go to your local Barnes & Noble book store and pick up a issue of the Military Vehicles magazine. This is the bible for the hobbie. Thumb through it and look at all the dealers that sell parts for ww2 Jeeps. Then hit the classified ads in the back.........you will see what I mean. I will stick with the Vietnam stuff............its just a bit cheaper..........just a bit
