I think it's a Continental R-670.

Referencing my 1945-46 Jane's, it does appear to be a Continental.
It was noted in that book that one of this engine's models was used as a tank engine, on the M3 Stuart. Used mainly on the Fairchild PT-23, the Stearman PT-17 and the Waco UPF.

Well it certainly does have a tank exhaust and the prop shaft looks too short for the aircraft crank.

It definitely looks like a W-670-9A. It has the M3 Stuart / LVT type exhaust. It is hard to tell from the front but it appears to have part of the -9A mount (the black metal parts that are attached to the verticle wood cradle on the side) It is missing the metal cradle part of the mount.

I remember hearing of L-5s with Tank engines. I believe it was a post war conversion and they were popular as glider tugs out west. Were any other aircraft converted to use radial tank engines? What was the nature of the conversion? New crankshaft etc.? Also I have seen a mount for a radial engine taken from a Navy landing craft.

First one has a Continental with a Stearman oil tank and a Curtiss-Reed prop (very rare these days), the second has a Lycoming with a Ham-Std ground adjustable prop and a metallized fuselage, and the third a Continental which may also have a Cutiss-Reed prop.
Note how the third one is a biplane.
I've seen a few of these and man are they UGLY!
