This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I also had problems taking a decent photo of it in the air.
I guess it is the unhappy result of murky weather combined with a small plane that was travelling fast.
I got quite a few reasonable photos of it taxiing, though.
Cheers,
Brett

It looks brilliant.
I especially like your shot Brett, a great angle.
It looks like someone left a P51D and a Cosmic Wind in the hangar overnight and they produced a love child!

The aircraft is registered as ZK-TMG to a syndicate in Auckland calling themselves Kiwi Thunder Group Limited.
The serial number is 018 if that helps.
Cheers,
Brett

This Thunder Mustang, ZK-TMG, given as serial 018 would be the one above I listed as N83TM, a registration it briefly wore while awaiting sale at Nampa, Idaho. The JIM LAHEY SACRAMENTO CA listing would not then be accurate.
The factory assigned serial number was LHTM014 a kit shipped from Nampa in December 1998 to John M. W. Sayers in South Africa.
I hope this one ends up with a warbird paint scheme soon.

What sort of value do the Thunder Mustangs fetch on the market ?

Good question. Going with the two examples (one, N7TR, first flew January 1999 and has flown all over the US, and the other, N51CC, mostly finished in warbird colors) seen below

Figure on seeing at least a $425,000-$450,000 asking price. They sold in 1999-2000 for $285,000.00 as a complete kit minus paint, upholstery, and avionics.

Not what you call cheap.....
What's the Falconer V-12 like for running costs etc....I would assume it would be a heck of a lot cheap to maintain than a P-Merlin !!
Sorry for the 1001 questions, I'm interested in this aircraft !!

Most questions can be answered at the website:

Click under the Information pages.
The fuel burn at a 300 knot cross country cruise was very good, about 24 gph as I recall. We checked it carefully after a trip from Idaho to Oshkosh one year.

Turbo - not long ago, there was a pilot's report on the aircraft, which made for very interesting reading. Plus, I also have a downloaded video (somewhere) of a ThunderMustang belting along - it doesn't sound like a Merlin at full-chat, but it sure as hell goes like one!!!
