I find it rather humorous that the pilot in the fourth picture is looking at the camera and not the rather large BOOM in the background.

WIX does it again! I had never seen an Avenger with a wing mounted radar before.
Thanks for sharing Jack

In picture two it looks like he caught the wire and the barrier, a twofer! I wonder how that got scored?

I think thats because he's closer to the photo ship, and that there is a greater chance of running into it than the island?

Ahhh sweet sweet Avengers. Still living for the day I see a TBF fly. Not knocking the TBM-3 at all but apart from working on our Museum's TBF-1 I've always thought the nose profile was much nicer looking on the early models. :)

Thanks Jack,
Never seen an Avenger with an underwing tank before (at least that's what I think I am seeing - no, NIOT the radar pods in the wing).
Ever used for a mission? Only for ferry flights?
Any serious answer much appreciated.

What carrier/base are the planes in the third photo from? The Reserve band on the Hellcat and the V tail codes make me think NAS Glenview, but I'm not sure.

I've never heard 'em called 'turkeys' before. Whydat? I thought they were considered pretty good birds.
