B-29's part II (PG-13 Nose Art inside)

Sat Dec 19, 2009 8:32 pm

The other B-29 thread made me hopeful, but I didn't want to hijack someone else's thread. I'm looking for information on or pictures of the B-29 Haulin Ass, 44-62103 that flew in Korea. It was in the 98th Bomb group, 343rd Bombardment Squadron. A friend of mine flew a tour on this plane and I'm trying to gather as much as I can find on it. My main goal is to try to find more pictures of the plane, partly to try to decipher the names of the crew on the side. More than one crew flew on this plane but I don't know how many. It ended up ditching in the sea of Japan.

Here are the couple pictures I have.

I've also found this set, the only other ones I can find on the internet. My main goal is to be able to decipher the names that are aft of the nose art in these bottom two pictures but can't read these when they are enlarged.

If anyone has any information or pictures of this plane or knows where I can find some, I'd be very grateful.

Now THAT is a really neat "piece" of nose art -- too bad it would be too politically incorrect to use in these sensitive times...

WIXerGreg, should I stir the pot and show a preview of WHY we are looking for the names? :D
