Museum visits in 2010

Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:30 pm

Which aviation museums that you have never visited before are you planning on making a trip to in 2010. I would like to make a stop at the Grissom Air Museum on the way to the NMUSAF in April.

Pat, when you are going to them, let me know. I might be able to meet you at one of the two. As for me;
PIMA
Planes Of Fame
Yanks Air museum
MCAS Miramar
Museum of Flying
Everett Field
Evergreen Spruce Goose museum
Pearl Harbor Air Museum (Our Honeymoon is going to be in HI)
Bradley Air museum

Chris, as of this moment I'm planning on being at the NMUASF for the Doolittle Reunion no matter how many B-25's attend. When you return from your honeymoon, we'd love to hear about the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island.

Schedule permitting, I might get to make my first visit to Fantasy of Flight and the Florida Av Museum in a few weeks. If anyone knows certain trivial bits of information not deemed worth posting on the FoF web site, such as what time of day the daily flight demo and restoration shop tours are, I'd appreciate hearing.

I (and a group of non-WIXers) will be in Dayton for the Air Show and the Museum July 17 & 18. We're planning on the Airshow Saturday and Museum Sunday right now but may flip it as we've done it that way the last 2 times and it might be nice for a change.

I will be there as well. The Doolittle Raiders and any number of B-25's will be cool. At the very least there will be one there that Doolittle actually flew.

I'm gonna try to hit Omaka (Blenheim) when we hit NZ this April. Also taking in the Wanaka Airshow.

Hey Chris - it looks like you'll be in the general vicinity of these two museums: Tillamook Air Museum and Palm Springs Air Museum. If you've never been to either, they are both worth a visit. Tillamook for the blimp hangar and Palm Springs for the excellent warbird collection.

Good catch man. I am going to add those two to the list.

As far as new museums go, I'm planning to visit:

Hoosier Air Museum
Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum
The Fighting Falcon Military Museum

I'm also planning on repeat visits to the Air Zoo, NMUSAF, Yankee Air Museum and Grissom Air Museum.

If your going to the Neil Armstrong Museum and the NMUSAF then why not staop at the Waco Historical Society Air Museum enroute? Gotta drive right past it!

The only "never visited" museum on my list for 2010 is Grissom. We traval from Michigan to my in-laws in Terre Haute, IN three or four times a year, but just haven't had the time to stop and check out the museum.

I'm also hoping to make my second-ever visit to Pima next summer..

If we go to Florida for spring break vacation, I hope to stop at Pensacola for the Naval Aviation Museum, and a return visit to Fantasy of Flight.
