Cool. Anything in the Museum?
The F-4 looks like it is in nice shape.

The F-4 is the museum's, and they have an original WWII glider. They are the process of building a larger facility that would give them the room to get a few more aircraft. They want to get a C-47, T-6, PT-17, and a C-119. I think there is a chance of them getting that DC-3 in the picture.

hope they give the control tower a face lift soon!

Someone needs to pick up the C-119 at Pate before someone decides to scrap it !

The DC-3 and the Convair were part of Rhoades operation and they did the turbo conversions on them. This was Bakalar air Force Base after World war 2. Lots of inform, ation at the museum's web-site:

Interesting to see one of the FedEx Lears there.
PJ, do you know if Mr. Rhoades still kicking? Bud Rude (my boss at the time in 2004) was lamenting how he was sad he couldn't help him out with getting more parts for the Darts on those beautiful Convairs of his.

The F-4 looks like it needs a correct paint job. No, don't even think the Thunderbirds!

I was amazed to see it in such good shape. It would be nice to see a more correct scheme go on it, but I'm jsut happy to see it being well cared for. The plans are to move it indoors if the expansion happens.
Rick H I would love to see that C-119 come here.
according to their site the base used to have a C-47 on static display. I wonder what happened to it? I'd love to see that one on the field go to them. It is a non flyer that has been used for parts, but can be made to look good for static.

CAPFlyer...I don't know, but I'll ask around when I'm at the Harpoon this weekend.
When I was little, wave after wave of Boxcars used to come over my house, headed for Bakalar. Sure would be great to see one fly again. That's also where i saw the best air show ever. The CAF Airshow in 1981.
