What's up with the Lancaster FM212?

Mon Jan 18, 2010 2:30 pm

Since I've got a little bit of time I thought I'd look into how the Windsor CH2A Lancaster Restoration was going, but it was hard to find using the search function. Is it in the Retroaviation Maintenance Hangar now and that's why I can't find it?

In any case, I'd like to hear from the guys working on the Lanc about how things are going? Now that it's winter have restoration efforts increased or decreased? What's the latest work done on her?

Anybody in the know, please fill me in. I'm so glad she's off of that stick and in your hangar.

Peace,

David McIntosh

I had the same problem trying to find my thread about it. When I have some free time I'll dig it up and get it going again though.

As for updates there isn't to much. Basically most of us have just been paint stripping parts and making small repairs to them. Some of the guys are working on one of the engines, they hope to have it running by late Spring or early Summer. Work also continues on one of the wingtips which should also be done sometime in the Spring, then work can begin on the other one. During the winter there isn't to much we can do on the actual plane or the main wings because it's just to cold to be working out in the hut. Not sure if I posted this in the old thread but back in Novemeber we recieved 2 sets of props back from Hope Aero in Toronto restored and airworthy. The 3rd set will be going up in the Spring and the last set soon after that. Other than that there is just planning going on to decide what needs to be done once the weather gets warmer.
