On the very northern tip of Morotai, western side, are the remnants of an old airfield. It is now either a military camp or a village (maybe deserted?). It is surrounded on all sides by either jungle or ocean, and completely isolated from the rest of the island. I have not been able to find any information on this old base. Wikimapia shows the layout of the airfield that "used to be". Can anyone shed any light on this base; was it American or Japanese? Appears a dump might be or was a little north of the airbase.

One of these perhaps? Or Kamiri, formerly a Japanese airfield, used by the RAAF with P-40's just before the end of hostilities.

Thanks, Holedigger. The bases you linked, Wama and Pitoe, are on the southern end of the island. I've done alot of reading on Morotai, and haven't found anything on this northern base. And I believe Kamiri is on Noemfoor.
The mystery of this base seems to be deepening. Maybe airmanual or someone else on that side of the world has knowledge of it.
