Here is a list of popular names of a wide variety of aircraft. It includes both foreign and U.S. built machines of types ranging from Piper Cubs to C-17s and including helicopters, gliders and drones. The question is, what do all these aircraft names have in common, other than being aircraft of one kind or another?

Hmm. Best guess I can come up with is that they were possibly all unofficial names that were eventually officially accepted?
Perhaps I am way, way off. It would't be the first time!!!

Which one represents the C-17? I don't see "Globemaster III" or "Moose" in that list.

I want to say that there is a surviving airframe for every name listed. However that is only true if there is some other aircraft named Giant that is not the ME 323.

Both of these were used in Viet Nam.

As lots of them I know have multiple different aircraft with that same name, I'm going to guess the answer is each name has been applied to more than one aircraft type...
