F2H Banshee in Oteen, NC???

Holedigger wrote:How about F2H Banshee (BuNo 126417) in a children’s park, Oteen, North Carolina? This is a listing from a newsletter from 04 by everyone's favorite, TIGHAR. Sorry (don't want to start a brouhaha here). Just asking, as this is the only spot I found mention of another example this bird "in the wild".

Please tell me more! I have created a "place holder" Location Dossier for now until I can find more information...

Neither Joe Baugher's site or Scramble list this airframe, so I have my doubt it exists. If anyone knows anything about this bird please let me know.

Mike - According to Leslie Hunt's 4th Revised Edition of Veteran and Vintage Aircraft - 1974, it shows the F2H at the park. Michael Blaugher's Guide to Over 900 Aircraft Museums, 21st & 25th Editions shows nothing in Oteen. Looks like another MIA

You say it "shows" that aircraft? Is this a photo or just a list? There was a jet warbird at a recreation park in Oteen, NC. I thought it was a T-2. That aircraft disappeared sometime after 1984.

Does it confirm the BuNo mentioned above?

Any chance you got a photo or know someone who has one? I bet there is a shoebox or two "out there" with some great evidence.

I remember the F2H being there in the early '70s (I played on it). I have no idea what happened to it. :(
