Boy does that bring back memories! Leo Loudenslager with his Laser and his TT-1 Pinto Jet act. EAA's B-17 when owned by Bill Harrison and Gorege Enhorning and company.Scott Smith's P-51 Gee Gee, the AJ-2 Savage on display, Tom Rudder's Harvard, Dick Foote's FM-2 and the first time I saw a Harrier or A-10!

I was at the other end of the flight line that year, but I did manage to get out amoungst the birds afer the show and have a lot of close-up slides.

Glad you enjoyed them Jerry. I knew they'd bring back some memories for someone! I didnt even show up on the scene for another 10 years! Boy where'd did those days go that airshows/the airport were not only looked upon fondly but supported by the locals as well!

WOW THANKS A MILLION for the Lycoming Savage! AWESOME. 1979, you can smell the new on that Blackhawk, hard to believe its been around (in service) for 31 years.

Fascinating photos... thanks very much for posting... I must admit that my jaw dropped when I saw the Savage... didn't know one was still flying at that point! I guess it was a unique survivor even then though... sad that more weren't saved, because it's one brute of an aircraft!

The first Mustang is N51YS when owned by Thomas J Watson Jr. son of the founder of IBM. The airplane wore that paint job up until @ 2000- 2001 when it was sold, is now SCAT XVIII (I think, not sure about the roman numerals) and is natural metal. I spent many late nights looking at this airplane and pondering life in general.

I believe that he had two, both painted in similar schemes. One was blue, one was red. "Miss Kat Brat" and "Ain't Misbehavin'" I believe.
