This will prolly be an easy queston for most of you. I beleive I know the answer but I just want to confirm.
What made the whinning sound when they dove?
I thought that it was the air going into the intake. My teacher insists that there was a siren mounted on the wing that made the noise. Who is correct, if either?

Hi CF--
Wind-driven siren mounted, iirc, on one of the gear legs...the air through the rad probably made a nice whine of its own though, like that fantastic howl an approaching Mustang makes...

Corsair had the whistle caused by the intakes at the wing roots, hense the Japanese nickname "whistling death".
Love that sound...............my CD "round sounds", you can hear it perfect.

Actually it's the vanes that direct the airflow to the Induction System and Innercoolers.

About the Stuka siren...it has also been referred to as the Jericho Horn,
or Jericho Siren, in reference to the biblical story.
