Air Heritage T-28 pics

Sun May 01, 2005 6:27 pm

Finally got things straightened around, so had some time to post the Air Heritage T-28 pics requested by O.P. IIRC, fellow doing the tour mentioned that the engine had too many hours...

OV-1D and US Jet Magister next!

Very cool, Thanks Chris!

I'm trying to figure out where that bird came from. I though I had found something out when it was pictured in your other post, but I guess there was too many beers between now and then and I forgot. I initially thought that "Army" was just painted on the side and it was left in original navy colors. But looking at it now, it doesn't have any of the normal "Rescue" and other markings on it. It had to have been completely repainted at one time. I've seen those markings somewhere, but I can't remember if it was Army or Navy. I've read that on the units transfered to the Army and the Air Force, It was awhile before they were repainted and in some cases they weren't.

Very nice lookin bird though. Very clean, TBO or not. It also looks like they're doing some tail stuff too. Tail AD maybe.

Thanks Again Chris,

Orvis

The T-28 pictured above was from a batch of 10 (?) T-28's that were procured for firefighting duties in Alaska. They were used for FAC duties.

Air Heritage got it from El Paso...Biggs Field maybe. Not sure how it got there.
