Pictures/video of Liberty Foundation's P-40

Tue May 11, 2010 8:26 pm

After listening to the awesome segment on Ray Fowler, Chief Pilot for the Liberty Foundation on Warbird radio, he revealed that he had flown the foundation's new P-40 restoration several times. Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember anyone posting any pictures or video of it's first or subsequent test flights. I know that we have several people here who work on that airplane. Can someone post those, or has that "scoop" been promised to an aviation magazine/website?

Thank you to anyone who contributes!

Just a quick FYI...we posted lot's of pictures of the P-40 late last year after visiting the hangar. If you log in to our "Image Gallery" section and scroll down to the gallery titled "Tom Reilly Hangar & P-40 Restoration" you can see the P-40 in detail. Hope this helps...

Thanks Matt, but I already have seen that. I was hoping for pictures of the final product and/or test flights. Awesome show you have, btw. I think I'm going to get addicted to warbird radio, just like WIX! :)

Hey Rod, your air-to-air pics are really good, are you free to post them?

Also Matt, one minor correction. While most of the stuff in the hanger belongs to Tom, it's not his hanger.

Hey Matt, you probably shouldn't come down here if you're looking for the P40. Liberty Foundation is doing some work on it up at Cherokee County airport. I don't expect to see it back here any more often than Liberty Belle, which has been here for a total of two hours so far this year :(

Here are a few that I took several weeks ago when Ray Fowler flew it from Cherokee County Airport (47A) to Fulton County Airport (FTY). I was in the back seat of a T-6 as we flew down with him.

Awesome, thank you Rod, I appreciate your time to upload the photos! What a beauty! Now, if only that white star were red, it would be a perfect replication of the Russian AVG! :D j/k !

I have a feeling that the white star may go away and be replaced by something a little different. Just what, I don't know.....:)

Some of the alutian birds had just the white star on the fuselage sides with the blue being painted over. This bird came from the dumb at cold bay and was involved in a landing accident in 42 and written off sometime after.Looks good know.

Now *that* is a pursuit ship!

Although I may be a little biased...
