A-26 engine oil

Wed May 12, 2010 5:37 pm

Can someone tell me if the A-26 has a oil shutoff from tank to the engines and if so is it electric or manual? thanks

Not unless someone installed one, aftermarket.

The feather switch on the panel of the B-25 cuts the fuel and oil if I remember right. Does the A-26 have this as well??

The fuel valves on the B-25 are mechanical, not electrical, so the feather button only turns on the feather pump circuit.

The original equipment on the A-26 is as Skymstr describes for the b-25.

That's OK Lynn, I'll be sure to let you know when the B-25 ground school is next February so you can get a refresher!

There's also no Oil cutoff on B-25s, unless installed aftermarket.

On the B-25, the feather button feathers the prop. That's it.

The fuel shut off knob, on the panel, is pulled to shut off the fuel. It's not a POL shut off.

Side note: There's a WWII "How to fly a B-25" training film online that was made using an early model B-25 with the rear turret. It shows the fuel shut offs to be a pointing arrow type of knob that is turned a quarter turn to shut off the fuel. They were beside each other, but I couldn't tell the location in the plane from the video.

"Show Me!'s" fire pull mechanically shuts off the fuel and electrically shuts off the oil.
