DESCRIPTION: A three-quarter portside aerial view of an RA-5C Vigilante aircraft (b/n 156608), Reconnaissance Attack Squadron 7 (RVAH-7) known as the "Peacemakers of the Fleet" and was assigned to the USS RANGER (CV 61) from February 21 to September 22, 1979. This photograph may show the Vigilante's last flight, since all Vigilante aircraft were officially retired in September 1979 and the RVAH-7 was officially decommissioned in October 1979. Date Shot: 1 Jan 1979, but The exact date photo taken is unknown.

Lee fly an F-4 Phantom II aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean Sept. 28, 2007, during the final flight of Key's military career. Keys is scheduled to retire after 40 years of military service.

DESCRIPTION: A U.S. Navy Douglas KA-3B Skywarrior (BuNo 142649) of tactical electronic warfare squadron VAQ-132 Scorpions approaching the aircraft carrier USS America (CVA-66) on 24 September 1970. VAQ-132 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing Nine (CVW-9) aboard the America for a deployment to Vietnam from 10 April to 21 December 1970. The KA-3B 142649 was later assigned to U.S. Naval Reserve aerial refueling squadron VAK-308 and crashed on 29 October 1972 at Buckley Air National Guard Base, Colorado (USA), due to a failure of one of its control surfaces. One crewmember died of a heart attack.

DESCRIPTION: A camouflaged U.S. Navy Douglas RA-3B Skywarrior aircraft of reconnaissance squadron VAP-61 World Recorders (BuNo 144846) with its cameras arranged before the plane. VAP-61 was used for reconnaissance over Vietnam until disestablished on 1 July 1971. This aircraft became an ERA-3B in 1982. It was later sold to Hughes and Raytheon (civil registration N547HA) and finally srcapped in 1999. Date unknown.

DESCRIPTION: OTS Project ("NOTSNIK") test shape ready for flight on a Douglas F4D-1 Skyray (BuNo. 130747), Armitage Field, U.S. National Ordnance Test Station, Naval Air Facility China Lake (California, USA), 1958; NOTSNIK, China Lake's crash-program answer to Sputnik, was an air-launched satellite-delivery system built in-house from available components and with no moving parts; six test launches were made, without provable success, but some people believe one was successful and that NOTS launched one of the first U.S. satellites. The Naval Ordnance Test Station (NOTS) was established in November 1943, forming the foundations of the current Naval Weapons Center (NWC). In the background two F3D-2Q Skyknight ECM-aircraft (BuNos 124596, 125846) of Marine composite squadron VMCJ-3 are parked. VMCJ-3 was formed at MCAS El Toro on 12 December 1955 and took delivery of the F3D-2Q in 1957. In 1970 VMCJ-3 retired the last of the F3D-2Q (after 1962 designated EF-10B) from Marine aviation. A North American FJ-4 Fury is visible in the foreground.
