Well... as long as we are talking old props and Hellcat panels here goes.
I got an e-mail from a gentleman who saw my webpage and thought I could help him.
He bought at a yard sale what he believes might be an authentic piece of nose art.
It is about 18"x 20" in size. In the bottom right is what looks like "by Purme".
The back of the panel is OD in color, it shows some wear and discolor maybe due to heat.
I discussed this with the "good" Col. and our thoughts at first were it was
Viet Nam era and off maybe a UH-1 Huey.
Since then the owner informed me that written in a corner is "Korea 1952".
I do not claim expertise in any of this, but I believe now that it could be off an L-bird
used for artillery spotting as the crossed cannon indicate an artillery unit.
(L-19 Birddog?)
Any other thoughts as of type aircraft and unit etc. would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
