The Helldiver is home. It is at the restoration
hangar aboard NASP. The media is there now
so we should have some video available shortly.

Great news!
Next to a lift, I find that the road transport is the next worrisome for me.
Job well done by all!

What did you mean by home? Is the NMofNA at Pensacola not the destination? Let me know, plan on taking a trip to see her tomorrow.
Thanks,
Gary

According to Jesse's profile, he's from San Diego, the Helldiver's "home" for most of the last 7 decades. The SB2C will reside from now on in Pensacola.

So, just exactly how far off the coast of California IS Lake Otay?
(Does ANYONE proofread anymore?

Of course it just needs a little "sprucing up" as well.
My kids can buff that off. A little cleaner wax and she can be on display.

Sorry to confuse you Gary, but, San Diego was here home, now Pensacola is her New Home.
I too must make the journey to see her at her retirement home!

I am sure the folks living around there, Eastlake, will be thrilled to learn they now have beachfront property!

Thank a lot Jesse, as someone else so kindly mentioned your profile says your from San Diego, browser I was using at the time did not show that. I am not too smart, but I think if I would have read that I would not have confused by self so. PM with your email if you would like shots of her at NMoNA, heading out in the morning.
Again thanks for clearing that up.

Great news!
Were the wings removed for the road trip, or could the be folded (and would folding them allow enough clearance for road transport?) Another point I'm curious about..are the ailerons fabric or metal covered? They seem remarkably intact.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's not "white 10"... looks like "white 19". Yes/no? And was this code on the fin as well? Can't quite make it out in the recovery photos.

I think I'm going to wait for some post-hosedown photos before trying to figure out the colors and markings!
