Remember the Tanker accident in Denver?

A few months ago an air tanker ran off the end of the runway at Jeffco airport in Denver, folded in the nose wheel and damaged the nose, etc....debatable as to whether or not they would make it flyable again......until now.
Talked to the guy working on her, they are bringing her back to flying status. Found this while poking around at Jeffco waiting for arrivals at the airshow today.

Any chance you can get more detailed pictures of the repair work going on? I would like to see what all is involved in the repair of the damage that happened. One of the pilots that flew or may still fly for Neptune got to fly #44 went it was first tanked and said that it was the smoothest and best P-2V-5 that he ever flew.

Doubtful...I rarely get to Jeffco airport, and the hangar was only open due to the heat, and when the guy working on the bird saw me he kinda came over to see what I was doing and escorted me back out (luckily I had already taken my shots of it)....but this much progress has been made on it in a short time, hopefully in a like amount of time the plane will be back together.

Thanks Mark, it was worth a try, I don't know why Neptune and some of the other tanker operators get so secretive about stuff but oh well.

In my personal experience,
It may seem silly to us but considering the owners and operators and the pilot & crew of the plane were involved in an accident maybe they don't want to be scrutinized by anyone.
Consider that there are Insurance companies, OSHA, EPA, FAA, competition, the legitimate press etc. constantly looking at a company like this. When your running a company that handles heavy equipment including aircraft, cranes etc, owners and employees
I will make this very clear, I'm am speaking in generalities and know nothing about this operation, but some shops bend the rules and do things that may be questionable as far as safety or legal at times and again don't want to have every move they make potentially watched or under scrutiny of a bunch of chuckleheads like us nitpicking the color of the handles on their left handed screwdrivers.
That said they are making good progress.
That said, I have found most shops, if you announce yourself, you don't look like a cop or investigator and speak to someone who looks like they know whats going on, taking a photo or asking basic questions, usually doesn't get a door slammed in your face.
Hanging over a fence in a security area with a 600x zoom usually isn't advised

Silly as it might seem, being a part time blogger has opened many doors up as a (laughable) journalist.
