ESAM in Schenectady NY

Sat May 21, 2005 9:57 pm

They had a Wings, Wheels & tracks today. The weather was great so I took a trip up to see what was going on.

It looks like they recieved the USS Intrepid's RA-5C, I just don't get it. A-3, A-7E, F11F, RF-5C and what else have they given up. Its going to look like the USAF museum on an Aircraft carrier. I don't get it :(

They has a half track, M38 M51, M37, Duce 1/2s. Pretty good time I'm glad I went. Learned some new things about my camera.

Got to sit in an A-7E, I can't complain.

I don't understand the Intrepid giving up those Navy birds....but hey I'm not complaining about the F11F and the A7E!

They didn't give them up the Navy took them back for not following the rules of their loan.

At least they are going to a place that will take care of them unlike the Intrepid. Can someone please explain why the Bloody Concord is sitting their and what does the SR-71 have to do with the Intrepids history I'll tell you Nothing. I think the Navy should force these groups who have the Carriers to make sure they have aircraft that repersent the history of the said ship.

RER

So the Navy took them back for not taking care of them? That could explain alot about their condition. There was einches of muck and dirt from the NY pollution. We power washed it off though.

I thought we all new that SR-71s and Concords served on aircraft carriers.

Dont be Bitter,
The Intrepid has to do something to yank the tourist dollar out of their wallets, just like every where else. They need aircraft that everybody will go and see, and not many people can tell you what a Vigilante was nevermind if they have seen one. At least its there, and its open.

I gotta go back there sometime soon, its been about 10 years.

Tim, Does ESAM have any good A/C to talk about?
Is the Tallichet B-25 still there or is it long gone?

The last of David's a/c are gone as of last year or so. They mostly have jet a/c. A-10, A-7E, F-4D, F-14A, Mig-17, Mig-21, F-102A, F-105G, UH-1H, UH-1B, Gnat, A-4F, RA-5C and tohers I can't think of off hand. Its a nice stop if you are in the area or passing though.

It seems that I also need to learn how to use the new software that came with my camera. Hopefully tonight I can get a few pictures up. Then you can tell me what they are

I'm not just looking for whats there, I'm interested in who might show up in some of the pictures. I know that some of the GMMVC guy's were heading over there instead of the East Coast Rally in Churchville Md. I'm curious to see if you caught any of them by accident.
